Krobo beads find their roots in the Krobo region of West Africa, specifically Ghana. Crafted from repurposed glass bottles that have been crushed into fine powder, these beads often showcase a rich array of vibrant and lively colors. Once the glass is transformed into powder, it is carefully poured into ceramic molds and then heated within a traditional mud kiln oven.
Steeped in ancient culture and tradition, these beads have served as a ceremonial symbol for young girls making the transition into womanhood. Worn either as wrist adornments or in necklaces, they carry the meaningful message that these girls have embraced the threshold of womanhood.
